Puppies Moving to New Homes

Our puppies are six weeks old . . . time to meet their new families! We took all seven puppies to the vet yesterday for a check-up and shots and they're all doing great. We were pleased to have 3 families stop by already today to take their puppies home. It's always so much fun to meet the new families and introduce them to their new puppy. Thanks to all of the families who are providing a special home for our puppies. Enjoy!!

The puppies are playing a lot more, enjoying their puppy food and are almost completely weaned. We hope you enjoy these photos! Before you know it they'll be ready to head to their new homes and you'll be getting puppy kisses!

Puppies - Two Weeks Old

Our puppies turned two weeks old this weekend and marked that birthday by opening their eyes! They still spend most of their time eating and sleeping but can sometimes be found wrestling or chewing on another puppy (or Gracie's) ear.

Four Chocolate, Three Yellow . . . . All Adorable!

Here's the official puppy count . . . Chocolate: 2 female, 2 male
Yellow: 2 female, 1 male

The puppies were born from 9:30 PM Sunday evening until 7:00 AM Monday morning. A long night for Gracie, but so exciting! The puppies and Gracie are all doing just fine. We hope you enjoy these first photos of the puppies! We'll hope to take some more pictures tomorrow - stay tuned.

New Puppies Are Arriving!

Gracie went into labor tonight at 9:30. So far we have one yellow male and one chocolate male. Both are doing just fine. We'll post more details and a photo tomorrow. Stay tuned!

Puppies Expected Yet this Fall!

 Welcome to our "Top of the Hill Labs" blog - an opportunity for us to share about life with our labs on our farm in Northwest Ohio. We are expecting a litter of Labrador Retriever Puppies yet this fall from our chocolate labs - Gracie and Maverick. This will be our first litter with Maverick as the sire and we're looking forward to the arrival of their puppies!



And now, to meet the parents . . .



Gracie is our nearly 5-year old chocolate lab. She is expecting her third litter of puppies on October 14th . Gracie is a beautiful lab with a great temperament. She did an amazing job raising her first litters of puppies and we look forward to meeting her litter yet this fall!  



Maverick



The sire of this litter is our chocolate male, Maverick. Maverick is a 1 1/2 year old male with a very mellow temperament. He is a large dog with a thick, brown coat and a blocky head. We can't wait to see the pups we get from this litter!

Puppies Sold and Moving to their New Homes!

Thanks to everyone who purchased a  puppy from Gracie's most recent litter. All of the puppies are now sold and most have moved to their new homes. It was great to meet so many wonderful families who welcomed one of our puppies into their homes. We're confident you'll enjoy many years of fun and happy memories with your new puppy. Our puppies will be 6 weeks old on Sunday and they are doing great! We've been busy moving to our new 40-acre farm, but the puppies seem to be loving their new home! If the weather is nice again tomorrow we'll try and take some more individual puppy photos. Enjoy!

This has been a big week for our puppies . . . they are getting weaned and started eating dog food. They took right to the food, but there's been quite a bit of howling as they get used to more food and less milk. Everyone seems to be doing great.

Three Weeks Old

It's hard to believe that our puppies will be 3 weeks old tomorrow! They all have their eyes open and are walking all over the place. They have the cutest little barks and can be quite noisy when they all start "howling" to get Gracie's attention. They still love to cuddle together when they sleep - just adorable!
